Lot 623 American Revolutionary War Naval Cutlass.
British naval style with 24 1/2" blade showing faux running wold mark and about 30" overall. Black enamel painted thin steel guard with wood (broom-style grip). Attributed to Richard Crodley and Edmund Quincy of Massapoag Pond in Massachusetts about 1776-1777. A similar example is illustrated on page 41 of Small Arms of the Sea Services, by Robert H. Rankin. Very good overall condition with minor erosion and light pitting on the butt plate. Most finish remains on the hilt.
